The Pictographs Tour will start off at Madeira Park Government Dock. Heading out of Madeira Park we will get a spectacular view of Mt. Daniel standing guard over the harbour. Next see the Prawn Processing Plant (operational during May and June), and the historic original Sunshine Coast hospital. Heading out of the Harbour we will pass by a series of islands known locally as the Indian Islands. On the Islands you will see an array of bird life including Eagles, Blue Herons and Canadian Geese. Seals are often seen sunning themselves on the rocks and log booms around the island. On the outermost island the remains of a cabin can be seen which back in the 1950’s was used for fish processing.

Exiting Pender Harbour, we enter the Malaspina Strait and will be looking directly at Texada Island. Texada is the largest of our coastal islands after Vancouver Island. Heading North we will pass by the Hodgson Islands and view seals and Bald Eagles.

As we pass by the entrance to the Agamemnon Channel there will be spectacular views of snow peaked mountains and glaciers. Fearney Bluffs will be our next point of interest. Towering 400 feet above sea level and the same below the water line, they are a spectacular site.

We will now head out into the open water of the Malaspina Strait past Nelson Rock light and into Quarry Bay. In the Northwest corner of the Bay we will stop to view the ancient Native art known as Pictographs.
